Sports Aaron Rodgers 'Hugs It Out' with Broncos' Wilson: VIDEO

We're not sure all is ever going to be well between certain members of the the New York Jets and Denver Broncos coaching staffs, all because a year ago new Broncos head coach Sean Payton took the time to rip predecessor Nathaniel Hackett, calling his Denver effort "one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL."

Players, led by Aaron Rodgers, were bothered by that quote. ... and Hackett is now Rodgers' coordinator in New York, as he once was in Green Bay, where they won a Super Bowl.

As the two teams set to face off this year, with Rodgers actually set to play, the Jets aren't thinking anymore about Payton's comments.

"Nah, that's old news, you know?" Rodgers said. "We've all said things that we'd like to take back, some things have been said and taken out of context I'm sure from time to time, but I honestly haven't thought about it until you just brought it up."

Rodgers was wise to dismiss it ... and he showed some more wisdom in the pregame today as he sought out former Jets QB Zach Wilson for an on-field hug.

Hackett has struggled here. So did Wilson, once a first-round pick who is now on the Denver bench.

With Rodgers back at the quarterback position in New York, Hackett's fortunes have changed. But any bitterness about being called out like that? That probably hasn't changed all that much.
