Breezy and warm before a brief cool down Tuesday; Fire Weather Warning for Monday

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Today was yet another unseasonably warm and dry day with temperatures in the upper 80′s. Winds are starting to pick up, especially out west. Those will continue to speed up into tomorrow ahead of a cold front which will also be accompanied by breezy conditions. The hot and dry weather mixed with the stronger winds tomorrow have prompted a Fire Weather (Red Flag) Warning for nearly 75 percent of the state including the Tri-Cities. Once the cold front moves through temperatures will steadily drop into the 70′s for the evening and getting into the low 50′s and upper 40′s for Tuesday morning.

Temperatures on Tuesday will be lucky to reach the 70′s with most of the day staying in the 60′s. Winds on Tuesday will calm down quite a bit leaving us with a very comfortable first day of October. Unfortunately the above average temperatures return Wednesday along with more breezy conditions. Highs on Wednesday reaching the mid 80′s once again. now this next stretch of above average temperatures will not be like the last couple of days. It is important to note though that our average high is in the low 70′s for this time of year.

Dry conditions continue through the end of the week with no rain chances in sight. A slight cool down is expected on Friday with highs in the upper 70′s as winds are expected to settle down a bit. Going into the weekend temperatures climbing back into the 80′s as Saturday looks to be a warm beautiful day for Nebraska's Homecoming football game against Rutgers.

Fire Weather (Red Flag) Warning in place for Monday from 12 pm CDT to 9 pm CDT from Cedar county down to Franklin county and the rest of western Nebraska. This includes the Tri-Cities.
