Detroit Lions message board: Which Seahawk presents biggest challenge?

C.Chen29 min ago
The Detroit Lions face a pretty tough challenge on Monday night. Not only are the Seattle Seahawks undefeated and thriving under new head coach Mike Macdonald, but they also have the Lions' number historically. Both teams are dealing with a bunch of injuries, but both have good depth to withstand them.

We've already gone through certain matchups and talked about the keys of the game . But let's talk today about the individual players who could give the Lions fits on Monday night.

Today's Question of the Day is:

Which Seahawks player presents the biggest challenge to the Lions? My answer: I feel like I could pick any of the Seahawks' receivers, but I'm going to go with Tyler Lockett.

Maybe it's just how last game ended—with Lockett cleanly beating Brian Branch for the game-winning touchdown in overtime—but I have a tremendous amount of respect for Lockett. He's such a good route runner, and knows exactly how to find the soft spot in zone coverage. He's also got extremely reliable hands and is Geno Smith's go-to player on a gotta-have-it down.

DK Metcalf is obviously Seattle's big-play threat, but because Lions safeties have been playing so well lately, they've done an excellent job preventing deep shots down the field. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is also off to a strong start, but he'll be up against Amik Robertson in the slot often, and I like how Robertson is playing thus far.

But Lockett vs. (likely) Terrion Arnold is going to be a tough assignment for the rookie cornerback. Arnold has gotten better every week, but he's still getting up to NFL speed. And if there's a receiver who can take advantage of an inexperienced rookie, it's a 10-year veteran like Lockett.
