Diana was born on November 2, 1941 in Silver City, New Mexico to Joseph Hing Wong and Margaret Toy Wong. She graduated from Rochester John Marshall High School in 1959. She attended the University of Minnesota where she met her husband, Clinton McLagan. They married in 1963 and started a family in West St. Paul, MN with the birth of their first child, Kirsten in 1966. Kirsten was followed by the birth of their first son, Matthew in 1969. And the youngest, Timothy, was born in 1970. They made their home in West St. Paul on Kruse Street. Even though the marriage ended, Diana remained very close to Clinton's family – Wayne and Ethel McLagan, their 9 children, including their spouses, and several nieces and nephews.

Diana started her career for Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing (3M) in 1976, which was also Tim's first day of kindergarten. Always engaged in her children and grandchildren's interests, Diana could be found at ball fields, hockey arenas, dance and concert auditoriums, and track meets. She always took great pride in all of their accomplishments, whether it was a new and exciting career opportunity, a promotion, or any academic accolades.

After retirement, she lived in many different places, including Fairfax, VA, Cave Creek, AZ, Big Lake, MN, and Fargo, ND before returning to St. Paul, MN. Her kindness and inquisitive personality attracted many friends wherever she worked and lived. She spent time with them on vacations around the world, but also enjoyed cooking, and playing various forms of dominoes- including her family's favorite- mahjong.
