Editorial: Elect Democrat Bobby Powell Jr. for Palm Beach County Commission District 7
This county commission race pits an experienced elected official with a deep connection to the constituents against a candidate who has twice run unsuccessfully for Congress and hopes he can get traction in this contest.
The Post recommends voters choose Florida Sen. Bobby Powell, a longtime Democratic state lawmaker, for this predominately Black commission district. The district stretches from Riviera Beach and West Palm Beach through parts of Palm Beach, Lantana, Lake Worth, Boynton Beach and Delray Beach. If elected, Powell would make housing affordability a priority.
Leonard L. Serratore is the Republican candidate in the race. He declined to sit for a Post editorial board endorsement interview. Regardless, the choice is clear: Voters should choose Powell.
