(WGHP) — A tornado struck Rockingham County during the severe weather brought on by Helene on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

National Weather Service in Blacksburg, Virginia, announced Sunday that an EF-1 tornado formed five miles east of Stoneville, near Heffinger Road, at about 3:25 p.m.

The tornado cut a 50-yard-wide path across about a third of a mile. It ended about 4.8 miles east of Stoneville at 3:27 p.m. Peak winds were estimated at 90 to 95 mph.

No one was reported injured, but the tornado did damage four metal structures and ripped off roofing. It also knocked over a few hardwood trees and tore solar paneling off of a home.

"The NWS Blacksburg would like to extend their sincere thanks to the Rockingham County Emergency Management Service for their assistance with this damage survey," NWS Blacksburg said in a statement.

A FOX8 viewer from Stoneville shared with us a video of what appears to be a tornado forming on Friday taken in the area where the EF-1 tornado struck.
