A hotel room has been destroyed by a fire overnight.

Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue said it was called at 03:56 BST this morning to reports of a fire on the first floor of the Station Hotel, Gloucester.

Three fire engines from Gloucester were sent to tackle it, alongside an aerial ladder platform.

A spokesperson for the service told the BBC there were no casualties, though the cause of the fire was under investigation.

They added a room on the first floor had been "100% damaged" and the entire first floor had been "80% damaged by smoke", with the incident coming to an end shortly after 05:36.
