NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A 52-year-old man has pleaded guilty to breaking into the same ABC store twice on the same night.

On June 18, Troyes Nigel Hunt broke into the front door of the ABC store at 2301 Colley Ave and stole numerous bottles of alcohol.

Shortly after police responded to the first burglary, Hunt returned to the same store. This time he broke in through a window and stole more liquor. Hunt was captured on surveillance video during both burglaries.

Later on that day, Hunt was arrested by a Norfolk police for a different shoplifting incident. Investigators used the officer's body-worn camera footage to confirm that Hunt was the same person in the surveillance footage from ABC store burglaries.

Hunt has been charged with two felony counts of burglary and two misdemeanor counts of petit larceny.

"Stealing from ABC stores is this year's fad crime, just as stealing catalytic converters was in the recent past," said Commonwealth's Attorney Ramin Fatehi. "My office has worked with the Norfolk Police to identify, arrest, prosecute, and confine the small number of individuals who are driving a disproportionate number of these ABC-store crimes. We will continue to be smart on crime by using our resources where they can make the biggest difference."

On Wednesday, Hunt pleaded guilty as charged and will be sentenced to a maximum active term of three years and seven months in prison. His sentencing hearing is set for Dec. 6.
