Coal Township, Pa. — A Coal Township man was arrested for allegedly stealing a package containing medications from a township home.

Police were able to use Ring camera footage to identify Gregory Lee Guy, 43, as the suspect for the theft that occurred on Sept. 5. The victim contacted Coal Township Police Department after she discovered the package containing $50 of medications and supplements was missing, according to Officer Cody Rebuck.

A neighbor had captured the incident on their Ring camera and provided it to police. Rebuck watched the video and saw a man dressed in black, who he recognized as Guy from previous incidents, according to the affidavit.

Rebuck went to Guy's home and knocked on the door. Guy's father answered, and said he would go to back of the home to look for Guy. When he returned, he said he did not find Guy, but noticed the back door was open. Guy's father also went to the basement and pretended to look for Guy, but said he could not find him, according to court documents. Guy apparently had concealed himself when police arrived at the door and then fled, according to the affidavit.

Several days later, Guy was caught in a burglary incident in Shamokin. Police were called on Sept. 8 to the Anthracite Towing Garage for a report of possibly three males in the building. Officer Wesley Fleming of Shamokin Police arrived and heard someone moving around inside the building. When Fleming announced that police were there, Guy, who was dressed in all black, ran and hid behind a pile of materials, according to the affidavit.

Police ordered Guy to come out from his hiding spot and took him into custody. Police found Guy had a BB pistol with him, three knives, a glass smoking pipe, and a backpack that contained an iPad, cell phone, and collectible coins. Police later determined Guy had stolen the coins from the store, according to the affidavit.

Police were able to view an image from a camera inside the business that showed Guy walking around. The business owner determined several items were missing, including a Milwaukee tool set and surveillance camera, according to the affidavit.

Guy was charged with felony theft of mail and misdemeanors of theft for the first incident. For the second incident in Shamokin, police charged Guy with felony burglary and a misdemeanor of possession of drug paraphernalia. Charges were filed through the office of District Judge William J. Zalinski.
