One Final Look at a Dead St. Louis Mall Where the Blues Practiced

I have a personal connection to this now dead St. Louis mall and many remember when it was a lively and active hotspot for St. Louis things including the Blues holding practices here. Here's one final look at what remained.

I remember this place like it was yesterday. Shortly after the St. Louis Mills Mall had its grand opening in 2003, I did a live radio broadcast there. We had a huge stage and the entire wing of the mall we were in was so crowded, you could barely move. The St. Louis Blues had a practice area where you could watch the players workout. Its food court had a Worlds Fair theme and was massive.

Now, it is no more. An urban explorer YouTube channel that investigates dead malls took one final look at the mall when it still was (sort of) a mall back in 2022 before it became something else.

As Wikipedia documents, the St. Louis Mills changed to an outlet mall in 2012 and was eventually sold to become a sports facility, but that never became reality.

St. Louis County Community News shared the announcement earlier this year that what used to be the St. Louis Mills was now the Hazelwood Business Park . It's been branded as a light industrial and technical facility with office spaces available to rent. Let's hope this new endeavor in this space is successful although many of us will remember what it used to be which was a crazy cool St. Louis, Missouri shopping place for a decade before it began its slide into ruin.
