Most obituaries published in the Reading Eagle are submitted through funeral homes and cremation services, but we will accept submissions from families. Obituaries can be emailed to .

In addition to the text of the obituary, any photographs that you wish to include can be attached to this email. Please put the text of the obituary in a Word document, a Google document or in the body of the email. The Reading Eagle also requires a way to verify the death, so please include either the phone number of the funeral home or cremation service that is in charge of the deceased's care or a photo of his/her death certificate. We also request that your full name, phone number and address are all included in this email.

All payments by families must be made with a credit card. We will send a proof of the completed obituary before we require payment. The obituary cannot run, however, until we receive payment in full.

Obituaries can be submitted for any future date, but they must be received no later than 3:00 p.m. the day prior to its running for it to be published.

Here are some of the outstanding performances by Berks high school athletes from Sept. 21-28:

Field hockey

Gov. Mifflin junior Makenna Baessler scored two goals and had an assist to lead the Mustangs to a 4-1 win over Schuylkill Valley.

Wilson senior Madyx Gruber threw for 230 yards and five touchdowns and added 204 yards on the ground to help lead the Bulldogs to a 43-20 win over Gov. Mifflin.

Boys golf

Daniel Boone junior Chase Yenser shot a 2-over 107 over 27 holes at Blackwood Golf Course to win his second straight BCIAA boys individual golf championship.

Girls golf

Exeter sophomore Giulia Weisser shot a 2-over 74 at Golden Oaks Golf Club to win the BCIAA girls individual golf championship.

Boys soccer

Tulpehocken senior Vincent Tartaglia scored three goals and had an assist to lead the Trojans to a 5-0 victory over Antietam.

Girls soccer

Berks Catholic senior Ally Devine scored three goals and had two assists to lead the Saints to a 6-0 win over Kutztown. Devine also scored a goal and had an assist in Berks Catholic's 3-1 win over Brandywine Heights.

Girls tennis

Conrad Weiser junior Charlotte Wenrich won her singles match to help the Scouts defeat Muhlenberg 5-2.

Girls volleyball

Schuylkill Valley junior Tara Hirschtritt had 13 assists, 12 kills, eight digs, two blocks and three aces to help lead the Panthers to a 3-2 win over Fleetwood.

Boys water polo

Reading High senior Charles "Trey" Stricker had five goals, two assists and three steals in Reading High's 12-8 win over Archbishop Spalding. Stricker also had nine goals, one assist and five steals as the Red Knights fell to Brunswick 17-13 and three goals, three assists and four steals in a 14-12 win over Exeter.

Girls water polo

Wilson senior Olivia Vecchio scored five goals, had three steals and two assists to help lead the Bulldogs to a 15-7 win over Gov. Mifflin. Vecchio also scored three goals and had two assists in a 9-0 win over Springfield and three goals and two assists in a 9-4 win over Cumberland Valley.

Girls cross country

Daniel Boone sophomore Julia Leady won the girls race Sept. 21 at the Council Rock Invitational in high school cross country. Leady ran 19:16.02 for the 5,000-meter course to win the race which featured 90 runners.

Boys cross country

Wyomissing senior David Giles won the 1A boys race at the Ben Blosser Bulldog Invitational on Sept. 21 in Newville. Giles ran the 5,000-meter course in 15:44.80 with teammate Cameron Cohen fourth in 16:48.20.
