Power restored Sunday to North College Hill police and fire departments

CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Duke Energy crews restored power late Sunday afternoon to North College Hill's police and fire departments.

They lost their power Friday when Helene-related storms blew through the Tri-State with high, damaging winds that left more than 100,000 Duke Energy customers in the dark.

The department's non-emergency line also was down during that time, according to the police department's Facebook page.

"Citizens of North College Hill our prayers to the electricity gods (have) been answered and a large (chunk) of central NCH has had their power restored to include the police and fire departments," the police department said in a Facebook post.

"We are hopeful that the rest of NCH businesses and residents have their power restored to them soon."

All traffic lights have had power restored to them and they are either cycling or flashing.

The police department posted daily updates on its Facebook page throughout the weekend.

That included one Sunday morning notifying followers about a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Hamilton Avenue and West Galbraith Road that left at least one person with a minor injury.

"Police use extreme caution at the intersection as it still does not have power and it is a 4-way stop," police wrote in a post earlier Sunday.

Shortly after, they implemented a new temporary traffic pattern to aid motorists at the intersection.
