Red snake slithers and wraps itself on pole that an NYPD officer holds: video

BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) — A bag with a snake was left in a shopping cart in the Bronx Saturday afternoon, police said.

Officers received a 911 call at 2:09 p.m. for a snake in a bag. The bag was left in a shopping cart near East 212 Street and White Plains Road, police said.

A group of officers can be seen standing around a closed-off area to the public. One officer appears to be holding a reddish snake with white and black stripes. The snake can be seen slithering and wrapping itself around a pole, as one video on Citizen showed .

The video also shows a shopping cart filled with bags. Officers removed a Honduran Mils Snake from the scene.

"The measurement of a milk snake may array between 14 and 69 inches. The main ones are chiefly originated in Central and South America," read the website Reptiles Cove . "The regular scope of the milk snakes in the United States and Canada is typically about 51 inches, at the high end."

No injuries were reported. The snake was taken to the Department of Conservation, officers said.
