Sevier County releases updated evacuations list with many areas still flooded

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Sevier County officials on Sunday released an updated list of county areas under evacuation orders in the wake of widespread flooding from Hurricane Helene. While some residents have been cleared to return to their homes, others areas are still closed.

Deerfield Mobile Home Park and Lazy River Lane areas remain closed as of Sunday. Residents may come to pick up necessities between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. The area is not accessible by vehicle, residents must check in with a law enforcement officer at the entrance before entering.

Areas that are open with some restrictions include River Mist Lane, Deep River Drive, River Lane, River Dance Lane, Newsome Road, and River Breeze Road. Certain houses in these areas are flagged with yellow tape and are not advised to be entered.

  • Tennessee Valley Authority officials advised area emergency management officials that the current release of water from local dams will remain the same for the next several days.

    Some subdivisions and residences are still affected by the increased water flow, leading to ongoing flooding in some areas. Residents are reminded to use caution when returning to these areas. Updates will be shared through www.sevierema.org .
