South Carolina opens as underdog to Ole Miss in early betting lines
South Carolina was installed as over a touchdown underdog to Ole Miss when early betting lines were released Sunday morning.
VegasInsider listed the opening number as Ole Miss -11.5 but by 11:00 on Sunday morning, FanDuel had the Rebels favored by 9.5 and DraftKings had the number at -8.5, which seems about right for the two teams.
FanDuel set the over/under at 53.5 points — the other sites hadn't released a total as of this writing.
After beating up on outmatched opponents to historic lengths through the first four games, Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss returned to earth on Saturday afternoon, falling at home to Mark Stoops and Kentucky, 20-17.
The Rebels (4-1, 0-1 SEC), a College Football Playoff hopeful, started their season with blowout wins over Furman (76-0), Middle Tennessee State (52-3) Wake Forest (40-6), and Georgia Southern (52-13).
The Gamecocks (3-1, 1-1 SEC) have wins over Old Dominion, Kentucky, and Akron to go with a heartbreaking 36-33 loss to LSU.
