Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick furious over unnecessary roughness penalty: ‘This isn’t the game I grew up playing’

The Pittsburgh Steelers lost their Week 4 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts by a score of 27-24In a game that featured a lot of questionable calls and self-inflicted wounds.

One penalty that stood out as being especially awful was an unnecessary roughness call in safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, who made a shoulder-to-shoulder hit on A.D. Mitchell after an incomplete pass and was tagged with a 15-yard penalty. This set up a Colts touchdown and ultimately helped Indianapolis hand the Steelers their first loss. Fitzpatrick was asked about the call afterwards, and he didn't mince words.

"I thought we were playing football," Fitzpatrick said. "This is not the game I grew up playing... you can't hit anybody."

It's hard to argue with the star safety, as we are seeing players be penalized simply for doing the one thing they get paid to do, which is hit the opponent and prevent catches.
