Sydney Swans coach John Longmire had to endure the ultimate insult after AFL Grand Final defeat... now his great rival is calling for a major change

GWS coach Adam Kingsley has come to the aid of Sydney rival John Longmire after the beleaguered Swans coach was forced to endure a humiliating moment following his side's grand final defeat.

One of the most respected figures in the game, Longmire had to conduct his post-match press conference to the backdrop of huge cheers and celebrations from Lions players next door in the wake of the Swans' 60-point drubbing at the MCG.

Speculation over Longmire's future at the club is rife after a second grand final humiliation in three attempts, but Kingsley says the Swans coach deserves more respect.

'That's the first time I've seen that. That shouldn't happen is my view,' Kingsley said of the scenes that Longmire had to contend with after the game.

'Whether the press conference should be held in another room that's further away from the winning change rooms?

'I don't think John Longmire should have to sit through that while being asked questions about the game in an incredibly emotional state.

'That would be very difficult to sit through and it looked like he dealt with it with great calm and composure, but that'd be incredibly hard.'

As more reporters piled into the press conference, the Lions' celebrations became louder due to the door constantly opening.

A frustrated Longmire ended up saying: 'Are there any more coming?'

'Any more? Do you want us to wait? Are there any more coming in?'

Fox Footy presenter Sam Squiers reflected on what he saw as a 'damaged' Longmire in the press conference.

'Yes it was a downcast, disappointed and somewhat damaged John Longmire after that 60-point defeat,' he said.

'Yet another heavy defeat in a grand final for the Swans.

'You can't underestimate just how difficult that was for him with, in the background, he could keep hearing the Lions celebrating.

'He was quite tense at the start, he looked a little bit peeved when people kept opening the door and coming in because he could just hear those celebrations getting louder and louder.

'Not too many answers there that Swans fans can hold on to.'
