DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Hurricane Helene left thousands without power in the Miami Valley, and as the weekend continues, many remain without electricity.

Residents still without power: When will it be restored?

On the southwest side of Miamisburg, a community is attempting to deal without power for an extended amount of time. They say they are hoping they can get their lives back on track.

For some residents at Ideal Mobile Home Park, its been two days too many.

"It's been hard," said Sharon Riedy, resident. "The people that's older, they need their oxygen."

The community has a large population of elderly citizens, some of which require power for their C-Pap machines, have already been forced to leave due to there being no electricity.

"We've already had two ambulances for two people that are on oxygen, we just need as much help as we can get," said Logan Lafferty, resident. Lafferty's trailer was also struck by a tree on Friday due to high winds, bringing down a power line in the process, draping a live wire over his home as well as his neighbor's home and shed.

"It it happens to dry up, it could burn down his trailer and mine," said Lafferty.

Lafferty has said that he and many other residents have contacted AES, and haven't received a definitive answer on when their power will be restored. Some have heard that the earliest crews can come to assess and remedy the situation is by Wednesday.

"We need our electric back on. We're losing our groceries, our food. We've been in the dark for two days." said Tess Hayes, resident. "Other than that, we're taking care of each other as much as we can."

As of 9 a.m. Sunday morning, around 25,000 customers are still without power in the AES coverage area.
