JOPLIN, Mo. — Over 150 volunteers lent a helping hand this morning for a good cause.

Joplin Area Habitat for Humanity held their Hearts and Hammers workday today in Joplin.

The volunteers knocked down and rebuilt from the ground up, a brand new patio deck for her.

Ms. Ada, the 92-year-old, says she's so thankful and excited to see all the work volunteers have done.

"We love to give back to the community and we teach all of our people that as well. We're just thankful to have a team that is on board with us and love to give back as well so it's really just an honor to serve people that are in need and be able to bless them with what they need," said Sarah Abernathy, Abernathy Roofing and Construction owner.

The Joplin Area Habitat for Humanity Hearts and Hammers workday helped out 24 different locations today.
