Warm Weather to Continue, But No Return to Searing Heat Predicted This Week

Warm weather will continue through the week for inland San Diego County, but with no return expected to the record-breaking heat wave that blanketed the region earlier in the month, forecasters said Sunday.

However, temperatures will remain above seasonal averages all week.

Triple-digit temperatures are expected for the deserts through the week, with mostly sunny and clear conditions.

The mountains will experience warmer than average conditions, with temperatures hitting the upper 90s, the National Weather Service said.

Low clouds and patchy fog are anticipated each morning nearer the coast all week.

On Sunday, downtown San Diego can expect patchy fog before 11 a.m. Sunday, with sunny conditions in the afternoon and a high near 75. Patchy fog is expected after 11 p.m., with a low around 61.

The western valley areas could see highs reaching the upper 80s, with mostly sunny conditions. Slightly hotter conditions near the foothills are expected, with temperatures possibly hitting the upper 90s.

Coastal San Diego will see partly cloudy conditions and patchy fog in the mornings this week, with mild gusts and highs in the mid-70s, while inland areas will see highs in the low to mid-80s.

Monday's San Diego surf forecast includes a moderate-risk rip current, with surf height from 2 to 4 feet and a west swell from 280 degrees.

No hazardous marine conditions are expected through Friday.

"Temperatures will trend higher through Wednesday before lowering slightly for the latter half of the week, although temperatures will remain above seasonal averages," the NWS said.
