PEORIA, Illinois (WMBD) – No. 19 Illinois fell on the road to No. 9 Penn State 21-7 for their first loss of the season.
In FCS action, the No. 15 Illinois State Redbirds fell at Hancock Stadium on homecoming to No. 2 North Dakota State 42-10.
Illinois Wesleyan won their home opener over Carthage 35-0 and are now 2-1 on the season.
At the intercity volleyball tournament, U-High handed Normal West their first loss of the season. They later defeated Normal Community in three sets.
In East Peoira, Morton's Brielle Hopkins won the girls race in 19 minutes, 37 seconds while Champaign Central was the team champion. For the boys race, Morton had four runners finish in the Top Ten but Mahomet Seymour finished in first place as a team by just a single point.
