Woman beaten with club after car followed her when let out of rideshare in northwest Houston, police say

HOUSTON — A woman was beaten with a club or bat after being dropped off by a rideshare service in northwest Houston Saturday night, police said.

This happened around 9:30 p.m. on Lockfield Street, which is off W 43rd Street near Highway 290.

The Houston Police Department said a black sedan followed the woman after she was let out before an unknown man got out and beat her. The man reportedly got back into the sedan and took off.

First responders provided aid to the woman before she was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

Investigators were working to gather surveillance video in the area and talk to any potential witnesses.
