Wisconsin-Superior remained in confident position in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference volleyball sweeping conference opponents Minnesota Morris on Saturday and Crown on Friday.

In Saturday's 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-18) victory, the Yellowjackets had 41 kills to the Cougars' 21 and seven aces to UMM's one.

Addy Gangl and Makenna Hohbein posted 10 kills apiece for UWS, while Jenna Anderson paced the defense with 20 digs.

Against Crown, the Yellowjackets won 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-11), posting 50 kills to the Polars' 20.

Hohbein was tough to tame, recording 15 kills, while Ayla Oltmanns kicked in 13.

Colleen Claude and Gabi Schwirtz shared setting duties, with 19 and 18 assists, respectively. Claude was also the team's leader in the back row with 20 digs.

UWS (13-5, 2-0 UMAC) faces its first conference road test against Northwestern on Friday in St. Paul.

Wisconsin-Superior struck first in the season series against UMAC rival Bethany Lutheran, defeating the Vikings 2-0 on Saturday, Sept. 28 in Mankato.

Clear-cut chances were hard to come by, as the teams combined for just four shots on target over 90 minutes, but the Yellowjackets scored both of theirs, the first from Jake Kidd in the 11th minute and the second on a Josh Bellamy penalty kick in the 62nd.

UWS goalkeeper Alex Paredes made two saves.

UWS (5-2-2, 4-0 UMAC) is scheduled to open its new SCCU Stadium facility on Wednesday, Oct. 2 against Northland.

Just when Wisconsin-Superior thought it had claimed parity in a closely fought UMAC matchup at Bethany Lutheran, the Vikings stung them again, as Roxy Rehberg's 84th-minute goal was a game-winner for the hosts on Saturday, Sept. 28 in Mankato.

The goal came less than three minutes after Mya Holmquist tied the game at 2 with her goal in the 81st minute after UWS played down a goal for most of the second half.

Niya Wilson had tied it at 1 in the 31st minute after canceling out an early BLC goal, only for Bethany to go back in front 8 1/2 minutes after halftime.

UWS (5-5, 3-1 UMAC) returns to the field on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Martin Luther.
