Lorraine Toussaint Joins Jessica Biel & Elizabeth Banks In Prime Video’s ‘The Better Sister’

EXCLUSIVE: The Equalizer 's Lorraine Toussaint is set as a series regular opposite Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks in Prime Video 's thriller series The Better Sister , based on the novel by Alafair Burke.

Hailing from Tomorrow Studios , which will co-produce with Amazon MGM Studios , The Better Sister meditates on the terrible things that drive sisters apart and ultimately bring them back together. Biel leads the cast as Chloe, who moves through the world with her handsome lawyer husband Adam and teenage son Ethan by her side while her estranged sister Nicky (Banks) struggles to stay clean and hustles to make ends meet. When Adam is brutally murdered, the prime suspect sends shockwaves through the family, laying bare long-buried secrets.

Toussaint will play Catherine Lancaster. Grand dame of publishing, New York City queen-maker, Chloe's (Biel) mentor and boss, Catherine is always thinking about the long-game.

Corey Stoll, Bobby Naderi, Maxwell Acee Donovan, Kim Dickens, Gabriel Sloyer, Matthew Modine, and Gloria Reuben also star.

Olivia Milch (Ocean's 8), who wrote the pilot, and Regina Corrado (Mayor of Kingstown) serve as executive producers and showrunners. Craig Gillespie (Pam & Tommy) will direct the series and exec produce alongside Annie Marter through Fortunate Jack Productions. In addition to Milch and Corrado, EPs include Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, and Alissa Bachner through Tomorrow Studios (One Piece), a partnership with ITV Studios, as well as Banks, Biel and Michelle Purple. Author Burke is set as a consultant.

Toussaint also currently co-stars opposite Queen Latifah in CBS' The Equalizer, which is heading into its fifth season. Due to an unprecedented agreement between Amazon, ITV and CBS, Toussaint is able to take on the series regular role in The Better Sister. Her other credits include Selma, Fast Color, The Middle Of Nowhere and Orange Is The New Black. She most recently voiced Queen Valerin in animated feature Nimona, and also voiced roles in Big City Greens, She Ra and the upcoming Disney Channel series StuGo. She's repped by Frontline Management, The Artists Partnership, and Myman, Greenspan et al.
