Analysts predict drop in gas prices before Thanksgiving; PA prices above national average The average cost of gas has been dropping around a penny a day. The number may not be enough to notice, but analysts predict gas around the nation will be under $3 a gallon by Thanksgiving."If they say under $3, I would be glad to fill this up for like under $30 or something. But under 30. Yeah, but I just don't believe it's going to happen. We'll wait and see," Dianne James of Penn Hills told Pittsburgh's Action News 4.According to AAA, Pennsylvanians are currently paying more for gas than any other state in the eastern United States. The Keystone State is also over the national average. As of Tuesday, AAA shows the average per gallon of regular gas costs $3.06. In Pennsylvania, that price climbs to an average of $3.25. The Pittsburgh area is paying even more at $3.32. A spokesperson for AAA says gas is about a quarter less per gallon than last year and we should see it drop further."We're seeing huge savings. And that's really due to crude oil. Crude oil right now sits at about $69 per barrel. So that is a pretty low, you know, we've been hovering around $70 per barrel, for the past, you know, three to six months, and we are continuing to see that trend down," Tiffany Stanley with AAA said.
