Williamsport, Pa. — Sandra Marlene Fagnano, 84, of Williamsport passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024 surrounded by her loving family at her home.

Born on July 5, 1940 in Montoursville, she was the youngest child of Harold and Eva (Wilkins) Higgins. Sandy shared a 54-year marriage with her husband, Louis Fagnano.

A 1958 graduate of Montoursville High School, Sandy worked at Kresge's and Woolworth's on Pine Street in Williamsport before dedicating herself to her family. She later spent two fulfilling decades working at Tony's Delicatessen in downtown Williamsport. In the early 1970s, in response to her child's diagnosis with diabetes, she played an important role in establishing a local Juvenile Diabetes chapter, helping to educate and support families in the community.

Sandy cherished the values and memories of her upbringing in Montoursville, often sharing heartwarming stories with her children and grandchildren. She adored family gatherings and found joy in visiting her grandchildren and celebrating the recent arrival of her first great-grandchild.

An active member of her community, Sandy loved her Bible study group, the Joyful Hearts, and spent countless hours enjoying the tranquility of her porch while engaging with family, friends, and neighbors.

Sandy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her siblings: Robert, Floyd, Gordon, Stanley, Colleen, and Julia.

She leaves behind a legacy of love through her five children: Barry (Bernadette) of Raleigh, N.C.; Lisa Rovenolt (Jason) of Watsontown; Brian (Jacqueline) of Loyalsock; Kevin (Monique) of Raleigh, N.C.; and Maria (Mark Updegraff) of Rochester, N.Y. She will be dearly missed by her nine grandchildren Emma, Megan Rovenolt, Brandon, Nathan, Zachary, Thaissé, Luke Updegraff, Everly Updegraff, and Vivienne Updegraff, and her great-grandson, Mark Fagnano.

While she is now in her Heavenly home, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.

In honor of Sandy's wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date.
