Organizers of a popular San Francisco music festival plan to make changes to reduce noise and vibrations across the Bay, the city of Alameda said on its website Friday.

The Portola Music Festival on San Francisco's Pier 80 has been heard and felt in Alameda for the past two years, the city said.

"Event organizers take the concerns of our residents seriously and are making changes to mitigate these impacts," Alameda said.

The festival runs from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

One change is that outdoor amplified sound will end at 10:45 p.m. Sunday, 15 minutes earlier than in the past, the city said.

Overall volume and bass levels will be lowered, the city said. The stage orientation and sound checks before the event will be adjusted, the city said.

Alameda will have two stationary sound monitors and a dedicated roaming sound monitor. When a complaint is received, the decibel reading at the closest monitor will be reported to the sound engineer "to determine next steps," the city said.

The hotline for reporting complaints is 877-324-8151, the city said.
