Verna Carol Schulz Luyster OBITUARY
Verna Carol Schulz Luyster, age 87, passed away peacefully in Loma Linda, CA, surrounded by loved ones on September 7, 2024. Born on July 13, 1937, in Lodi, California, to Bertha and Theophil Schulz. Verna lived a full life of love, devotion to her church, her family, and service to Loma Linda University. Growing up on the farm in Lodi, Verna moved to Angwin, California to attend Pacific Union College where she received her degree in Secretarial Science and in Music. In 1958, Verna married LeRoy Luyster in Lodi, California, and in 1960 they moved to Loma Linda where together they started their careers and built a beautiful family. Eventually Verna was offered a job at the Loma Linda University School of Nursing, and she turned it into a career working for the University for over 20 plus years retiring from the Loma Linda University International Heart Team. Verna was a devoted Seventh Day Adventist who trusted God's mercy and grace. She cherished her religion and was active in many ways such as singing in the church choir and playing her beloved Clarinet for just about any church event, celebration, and for no reason at all.Verna's legacy of love, faith, and her love of music will live in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by her family, friends, and the countless lives she touched.She is survived by her two children, her son, John T and his wife Stacey, and her daughter, Jonna and her husband Richard Trzcinski.A memorial service of Verna's life will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at the Loma Linda Campus Hill Church in Loma Linda, California.
