DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — The Dayton Recovery Plan will help fund the construction of new affordable homes in the area.

After approval from the Dayton City Commission this week, $300,000 from the Dayton Recovery Plan will go toward funding 27 new single-family residential homes in the Wolf Creek neighborhood.

Blight removal scheduled for Dayton's Five Oaks neighborhood

The homes will be developed by County Corp and Oberer Companies, and once complete, will be available to rent affordably by families earning 50-60% of the area median gross income.

All of the homes will be two-story structures (besides two ranches) with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a front porch and a two-car garage with alley access. Each home will be highly energy-efficient and are designed to blend in with existing homes in the neighborhood.

Two-story homes are expected to be 1662 square feet, ranch homes will be 1375 square feet.

Plans detail the homes being built throughout the Wolf Creek area, on West First Street, West Second Street and North Broadway Street. Most of the construction will occur on lots where nuisance structures were demolished in previous years through the Neighborhood Improvement Program.

Dayton Recovery Plan funds will be used for construction materials and professional services needed to complete construction. In addition to the Dayton Recovery Plan grant, the $11.9 million development will be funded by tax credit sales, federal HOME funds, and other financing tools.
