2 arrested after chase involving tow truck wanted for homicide in Chicago ends along I-55 in Channahon
CHANNAHON, Ill. — Two people are in custody after a police chase involving a tow truck wanted for homicide in Chicago ended in the south suburbs on Friday afternoon, police said.
According to authorities, it all started in Harvey when Illinois State Police troopers received a report of a fleeing vehicle wanted for homicide in Chicago.
Troopers responded to the 250 block of East 147th Street and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the truck, but authorities said the driver continued fleeing.

The chase continued onto I-55 southbound and eventually came to an end when the driver crashed near Bluff Road in Channahon, in Grundy County.
Following the crash, both people inside the vehicle were taken into custody.
Skycam 9 was over the scene at around 1:20 p.m. when a large presence of law enforcement officers was spotted.
At least 10 law enforcement vehicles were on the scene and at last 12 officers could be seen near the stopped truck.

Nearby the stopped truck, a handful of officers could be seen taking someone into custody.
Authorities have not provided details on the Chicago homicide and it is unclear how the vehicle was allegedly involved.
According to troopers, there is no threat to the community and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The incident caused some backups for drivers in the area.
