2 arrested for attempted contraband drop at Washington State Prison

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – A Washington County Sheriff's Deputy witnessed a contraband drone drop at Washington State Prison on Wednesday night.

The deputy, patrolling Davisboro, heard a drone drop a package and visually saw the drone at the Washington State Prison.

Shortly thereafter, Deputies spotted a suspicious vehicle in the area. Deputies observed several traffic violations and performed and pulled the vehicle over. When the deputies approached the car, a large drone was seen in the backseat, and the odor of marijuana was coming from it. During this investigation, a quantity of illegal drugs and other prohibited items were seized officials say.

Sheriff Joel Cochran said, "The Washington County Sheriff's Office remains committed to safeguarding our communities by intensifying our efforts to prevent contraband from entering the Washington State Prison. We collaborate closely with Georgia Department Of Correction officials and other law enforcement agencies to implement enhanced security measures and thorough investigations. Our goal is to ensure the safety of the inmates and staff, and we will continue to take decisive action against any attempts to compromise the integrity of our prison and our community."

The suspects below have been arrested:

  • Jasiah Guadalupe, age 22, of Clayton, Georgia

  • Jordyn Seay, age 19, of Hampton, Georgia

  • They're both charged with:

  • Trading with Inmates (Felony)

  • Unlawful Use of Unmanned Aircraft System (Felony)

  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of Certain Felonies (Felony)

  • Possession of Marijuana Less than 1oz (Misd)

  • Possession of Schedule 1 Drugs, Psychedelic Mushrooms (Felony)

  • Open Container (warning)

  • Failure to Maintain Lane (warning)

  • Headlight Requirements (warning)
