SANTA ROSA, Calif. - Five people were arrested in Santa Rosa Friday evening for driving under the influence, police shared. Santa Rosa police officers held a DUI checkpoint at Piner Road and Coffey Lane beginning at 8 p.m. and ending at midnight. At least 10 drivers were evaluated for DUI, and five were arrested. "DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints [is] to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads," Santa Rosa police officials said. One person was also cited for drug paraphernalia and violating their probation. Within the four-hour period, 22 drivers were also cited for operating a car while unlicensed, and one driver with a suspended/revoked one. More information is coming out about a 2017 sexual assault allegation raised against Pete Hegseth, Donald Trump's secretary of defense pick. News about the allegation came to light on Friday when the Washington Post reported that members of Trump's transition team had been made aware of the incident via a memo and were worried about its implications. According to the Post, the alleged assault took place in a California hotel after a California Federation of Republican Women conference, and after Authorities have identified body parts found in a freezer earlier this year in Colorado as belonging to a teenager who went missing nearly two decades ago. The Mesa County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the remains are those of Amanda Leariel Overstreet, who had not been seen since April 2005. Her head and hands were discovered in a freezer at a home in Grand Junction, about 240 miles west of Denver, in January. Overstreet was the biological daughter of the home's previous owners. The remains were found when the new owners, who had recently purchased and remodeled the home, attempted to give away the freezer. Investigators have emphasized that the current owners are not connected to the case. Overstreet's disappearance had never been formally reported, and the case remains under investigation, according to the sheriff's office. Pete Hegseth, the Army National Guard veteran and Fox News host nominated by Donald Trump to lead the Department of Defense, was flagged as a possible "Insider Threat" by a fellow service member due to a tattoo on his bicep that's associated with white supremacist groups. Hegseth, who has downplayed the role of military members and veterans in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack and railed against the Pentagon's subsequent efforts to address extremism in the ranks, has said he was pulled by his District of Columbia National Guard unit from guarding Joe Biden's January 2021 inauguration.
