2026 baseball prospect Dylan Minnatee commits to LSU
Dylan Minnatee committed to LSU , he announced on Thursday. He's viewed as a potential MLB Draft pick, according to Perfect Game.
He announced his decision after a standout summer in multiple events.
It was early on, back in 2022, but Perfect Game USA saw something in Minnatee in the 14U Showcase.
"Dylan Minnatee is a 2026 1B/LHP/OF with a 5-10 155 lb. frame from Elk Grove, CA who attends Franklin. Lean, athletic looking frame with a high waist and plenty of time to physically mature. Recorded a 7.66 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary first baseman with solid footwork throughout the fielding process, a clean funnel out in-front and the ability to make throws from different arm angles when necessary. Displayed some quickness to his turns and recorded arm strength up to 80 mph during drills. Secondary left-handed pitcher that worked from an abbreviated windup with a slightly coiled leg lift into balance and medium stride length out to foot strike.
"Rather simple, repeatable operation with ability to throw three-pitches for strikes. Fastball worked in the low-to-mid 70s for the duration of his outing and topped out at 75 mph from an extended three-quarters arm slot. Mixed in two promising secondary offerings with his faded changeup showing best at present. Replicates arm speed effectively and has the ability to kill spin. Breaking ball varied in shape and shows best when thrown with conviction out in-front. Will continue to improve with additional velocity and refinements mechanically.
"Left-handed hitter that hits from a narrow, upright stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and a hover trigger. Incorporates a deep, wrapped hand load to get into launch and rotational lower half mechanics to generate torque. Contact oriented stroke with inside hand path and developing feel for the barrel. Middle-of-the field approach with some line drive impact from gap-to-gap. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Projectable, young prospect with plenty of upside on both sides of the ball, will expand overall skill set with additional strength."
