SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. ( WKRG ) – Five people are dead after two murder-suicides in Santa Rosa County on Tuesday.

With the area having seen four murder-suicides since June, Sheriff Bob Johnson is urging those in a domestic violence situation to take advantage of the resources that are out there.

"You're going to be afraid to take that first step, but if don't take that first step this is how it can end," Sheriff Bob Johnson said.

Just after 1 a.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to Majestic Palm Street in Pace. The sheriff's office says a woman was on the phone with dispatchers when her boyfriend killed her, and then turned the gun on himself.

That same day, deputies responded to Cypress Point Circle in Navarre. There, Johnson says a 52-year-old man shot and killed his mother and father before killing himself.

These incidents follow a murder-suicide on Meadow Wood Lane in Navarre on October 25. Johnson said a boyfriend shot and killed his girlfriend, and then himself.

In June, deputies responded to a murder-suicide on Adrian Way in Milton. The sheriff's office said a husband shot his wife and then killed himself. Tragically, deputies say their children were present at the time of the shooting and one child suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a bullet.

Sheriff Johnson wants people to know that help is out there.

"If you're in a domestic violence situation and you feel it's hopeless and there's nothing that can help you and your family, well that's not true. We can break the cycle if you will let us. If we get the call we can help you," Johnson said.
