The man involved in the incident allegedly damaged property, went back into an apartment, and barricaded himself inside with the other person he was arguing with, the sheriff's office said. Officials forced their way into the apartment after hearing "a disturbance from inside," according to the press release.

"The male brandished a knife and began to advance on the deputies, holding the knife," the sheriff's office said in the press release. "Three deputies fired rounds at the male, resulting in his death."

The three deputies who fired at the man were placed on leave pending investigation, following standard practice and county policy after an officer-involved shooting. According to the press release, no other deputies or involved parties were injured in the incident.
