3 dead, suspect on loose following shooting near Westcliffe

CUSTER COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - A situation was taking place in northern Custer County on Monday that the sheriff’s office described as “high-risk.” According to law enforcement sources with direct knowledge of the situation, multiple people are dead following reports of an active shooter.

At around 8:50 p.m. on Monday, the Custer County Sheriff confirmed to 11 News that three people were dead in the incident and one had been seriously injured. That person was airlifted to a hospital in Colorado Springs. Officials also said the suspect was still on the loose at that time.

At about 2:30 p.m. the Custer County Sheriff’s Office posted the following to social media:

Rocky Ridge Road is northeast of Westcliffe.

As of just after 8 p.m., an all-clear had been issued for the impacted area.
