5 high school football stars from the second round of playoffs

The State Journal will recognize the accomplishments of five high school football athletes from our coverage area each week.

The efforts may not be the greatest statistically but are notable. We then invite readers to vote for the Supernova, the performance that most stood out to you.

Here are this week's honorees from the second round. This will conclude this season's installment.

Noah Joseph holds back Middleton

In Waunakee's 17-0 victory against Middleton , linebacker Noah Joseph had a monster performance with 15 tackles, four of which were for a loss.

"Noah's drive to be great, coupled with his excellent preparation, puts him in a great position to be successful on the field and as a leader on our team," Waunakee coach Chris Graverson said.

Joseph has had four tackles for a loss in both of his team's playoff games. In the first-round game against Wausau West, he tallied 18 tackles, according to WisSports . The top-seeded Warriors host No. 7 D.C. Everest on Friday.

Brook Hendrickson powers past Waterford

Quarterback Brooks Hendrickson led Mount Horeb/Barneveld to a 35-14 victory over Waterford with two passing touchdowns and 195 yards.

The junior completed 15 of his 25 passes and had zero interceptions, according to WisSports . He threw his first touchdown for 68 yards to Owen Aeschlimann.

Hendrickson now has two or more touchdowns in his last five games. Mount Horeb/Barneveld will play at top-seeded Waukesha Catholic Memorial on Friday.

Tremayne Habeck runs wild

Monona Grove running back Tremayne Habeck did everything in his power to keep the game close in a 35-34 loss at Rice Lake.

The junior ran for a season-high 233 yards and four touchdowns, according to WisSports . His final touchdown in the fourth quarter gave his team a six-point lead, but a failed 2-point conversion gave room for the No. 2 seed to come back and win.

Ryker Swenson quiets Marshall's offense

With 13 total tackles, three for a loss and two sacks, Belleville's Ryker Swenson was nearly unstoppable in his team's 21-7 win against Marshall, according to WisSports .

The middle linebacker had three solo tackles and assisted on 10, helping his defense hold Marshall to the one score and move on to the quarterfinals. Belleville will play at No. 2 Lancaster on Friday.

Cooper White sure-handed in loss

In his final high school football game, Sun Prairie East wide receiver Cooper White had a performance to remember. He was responsible for both of the Cardinals' touchdowns in their 38-14 loss to West De Pere.

White caught an 80-yard pass from quarterback Max Raimer in the first quarter and then a 12-yard pass in the second. He finished the game with 194 receiving yards on eight receptions.
