NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — Oct. 16, 2024, marks two years since Mary McLeod was killed while crossing Chef Menteur Highway. There's a $2,500 Crimestoppers reward offered in the case, but it expires on Nov. 2.

According to police, around 8:10 that night, McLeod was trying to cross Chef Menteur by Crowder Boulevard. Police say she was hit by one, maybe two cars. No driver stopped, and McLeod died at the scene.

Since then, police have released no information on any suspects, arrests or descriptions of cars that may have been involved. And it's not the only hit and run case on Chef Menteur in recent years. Since 2021, there have been at least six cases when someone was involved in a fatal accident, either on foot, on a bicycle or motorcycle or in another car, when a driver left the scene without stopping.

So far, more than 470 people have been booked after their cases rolled on the Wheel of Justice.
