PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man and a teen have been indicted in connection to a high-profile shooting that happened inside the food court of the Arizona Mills mall in Tempe earlier this year.

The Maricopa County Attorney's Office confirmed Thursday that Xavier Padilla, 17, and Gabriel Garcia, 19, were indicted by a grand jury in connection to the September shooting.

Both face multiple felony counts of aggravated assault and endangerment in addition to one count of disorderly conduct and unlawful discharge of a weapon, which are also classified as dangerous felonies.

While Padilla is being charged as an adult, he also faces an additional felony count for being underage with a weapon.

Arizona's Family first reported that the scare among mallgoers stemmed from a feud between the shooters and the victims and that Padilla reportedly admitted to the shooting.

Trial is tentatively set for March 2025, prosecutors said.

Padilla and Garcia were among three people arrested late last month. The third person, 22-year-old Marvin Hooks, was booked on a felony count of conspiracy in connection with the crime but was not indicted.
