13 July concerts in Lancaster County, from Steven Courtney to a Watkins Glen tribute

You don't have to travel very far or spend a lot of money to see a great concert this month.

Musicians from many genres will perform in Lancaster County this July, leaving something for everyone regardless of whether your music taste leans more toward dance-worthy Latin fusion, or toward R&B and soul.

And, a bonus — because of the county's many free, outdoor summer concerts , many of the options can double as an inexpensive night out.

Here are 13 concerts to check out in Lancaster County in July.

July 9

— Country artist Kendal Conrad will perform at Grater Park in Ephrata at 6 p.m. as part of the Concerts by the Creek music series. Montgomery County native Conrad describes herself on social media as "your next favorite pop/country artist." Folk-pop band The Wild Hymns will open the show. Admission is free, and there will be food trucks on site. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs. More info .

July 11

— Musician John Darrenkamp will perform with several of his friends as part of the Highland Presbyterian Church's Lancaster Lemonade Concert Series, starting at 7 p.m. Other performing musicians include Kristin Sims, Heidi Shannon, Maggie Riker, Amy Yovanovich, Christian Seay, Brenten Megee, Matthew Robinson and Sue Fry. Admission is free, though donations are encouraged at intermission. Enjoy free lemonade after the concert, too. More info.

— Multi-genre artist Amos Lee will perform at the American Music Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Lee has opened for musician Norah Jones, after being discovered by Jones' bassist at a New York City open mic night. Singer-songwriter and harpist Mikaela Davis will join Lee as a special guest. Tickets cost $49-$79, depending on seat. More info .

July 12

— R&B/soul singer-songwriter will perform at EsoArts at 6:30 p.m. The event, called "A Night of Soul," will also feature local musicians Emaylia and K-Rock. Admission costs $10. More info .

July 13

— Latin-fusion band Los Monstros will perform at Strasburg Community Park at 6:30 p.m. The band describes itself as a Latin/dance fusion, welcoming everyone to enjoy. There will be a beginner dance lesson before the concert. Admission is free. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs. More info .

July 14

— Family friendly band Steven Courtney & the Suitcase Musicians will perform at Zoetropolis Cinema Stillhouse at noon. Courtney has performed children's music since the early '90s , sometimes performing as many as 200 concerts a year. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 4-18 and free for children ages 0-3. More info .

July 16

Indie singer-songwriter Tommy Prine will perform at West Art at 7:30 p.m. Prine is the son of legendary singer-songwriter John Prine, who died in 2020 from COVID-19 complications . But, Tommy Prine is now forging his own musical path. Tickets cost $25 in advance, or $30 the day of. More info .

— Psychedelic rock band Medusa's Disco will perform at Zoetropolis Cinema Stillhouse at 8 p.m. Medusa's Disco, which released its latest album Blood & Honey in 2023, has toured with bands like Third Eye Blind, Godsmack, the Districts, Kix, Puddle of Mudd and more. Jazz fusion band Trash Juice will open the show. Tickets cost $15. More info.

July 18

— Cover band Yacht Lobsters will perform at Phantom Power at 8 p.m. The band covers songs from the '70s and '80s, but adds a fun New Orleans flair, as well as some rock and jazz improv. Tickets cost $20 each, or $70 for a 4-pack bundle. Concertgoers must be 21 years old or older unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. More info .

July 20

— Mount Hope will host a summer concert at its Globe Theater stage, featuring a performance from Johnny Cash tribute band Johnny Folsom 4, with gates opening at 6 p.m. Roots group Miss Laurie Ann and the SaddleTones will open the show. Tickets cost $19.95 for general admission, and admission is free for children ages 0-11 years old. More info .

— Singer-songwriter Langhorne Slim will perform at Tellus360 at 7 p.m. Slim wrote his most recent album, 2021's "Strawberry Mansion," to process topics like anxiety, addiction and COVID-19. Tickets cost $20 in advance, or $25 the day of. Concertgoers must be 21 years old or older. More info .

— Blues band The Skyla Burrell Band will perform at McCleary's Public House at 9 p.m. The band, formed in 2022, has performed in more than 50 music festivals since its inception. Admission is free. More info .
