1 killed in Spartanburg Co. head-on collision

(WSPA) — One man is dead and three are injured after a Monday afternoon car crash. According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 3:40 p.m. on SC 417 near Chicken Foot Creek Road. A 2008 Buick Lucerne was headed north on the highway when it was hit head-on by a 2008 Kia Sport SUV that was moving south on the highway. SCHP said the the Kia traveled left over the centerline at the time of the wreck. The Buick driver, passenger and a passenger in the Kia were injured and taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for their injuries. The Kia driver died at the scene. The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office identified the man that died as Eddie Lee Bellew, 67, of Greer. He was pronounced dead at 4:11 p.m. A forensic exam is scheduled for Tuesday. SCHP is investigating the crash at this time.
