12 locations to offer free sand for Escambia, Santa Rosa counties residents
NORTHWEST FLORIDA ( WKRG ) — Escambia and Santa Rosa counties residents can now better protect their properties against flooding as 12 locations are offering sand.

According to a county press release, residents in flood-prone areas can visit one of the following locations to pick up sand:
Baars Field Athletic Park: 13001 Sorrento Road, Pensacola
Brent Athletic Park: 4711 N. W St., Pensacola
Don Sutton Park: 2320 Crabtree Church Road, Molino
Equestrian Center: 7750 Mobile Highway, Pensacola
Escambia County Road Department: 601 Highway 297-A, Pensacola
Ferry Pass Middle School (the sand will be at the northwest corner of the school property on Parazine Street): 8355 Yancey Lane, Pensacola
John R. Jones Jr. Athletic Park: 555 E. Nine Mile Road, Pensacola
Travis M. Nelson Park: 4541 County Road 4, Pensacola
The county provided the following map of the locations mentioned.
Officials said the sand will be available 24 hours a day, starting Monday, Sept. 23. Picking up sand is on a first-come, first-serve basis, and residents must bring their own sandbags and shovels.
