4 Pa. cities among ‘most rodent-infested’ list

There's a city in Pennsylvania that's been noted for being amongst the most infested with pests in the United States, from bedbugs to rats .

This latest study affirms this city's standing , and includes a few others in the Keystone State as well.

  • Terminix — which "is a global leader in pest management, with over 95 years of experience," according to its " About " page — recently published its own "The US cities with the most rodents" report, something competitor, Orkin, does as well.

    Terminix leveraged its own proprietary data from 300 of its branches nationwide to find said cities. The data was then analyzed and cities, ranked.

    Philadelphia was placed in fourth overall, landing it amongst the top five most rodent-infested city.

    As previously stated, Philadelphia wasn't the only place in Philadelphia that was ranked amongst the 50 cities: Pittsburghs ranked next in the 20th overall spot followed by Harrisburg in 36th. The Wilkes-Barre-Scranton was the final city mentioned, coming in 39th.

    "Cities with the most rats and mice often have a high population density, easy access to food, and mild," reads the report. "These rodents aren't just annoying; they can be a serious nuisance and health hazard to your home.

    "They can chew through wires, contaminate food, and transmit diseases."

    The remainder of the top five most rodent-infested up there with Philadelphia were Washington, D.C. in fifth; Los Angeles, Calif. (third); San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose, Calif., in second; and New York City, N.Y., in first.
