2 people dead, 4 injured in Yoakum County crash

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - DPS says on Friday morning, 2 people from New Mexico are dead and 4 others were injured in a 2 vehicle crash in Yoakum County right by the Texas-New Mexico border.

DPS says the crash was around 11:30 in the morning.

According to the release, 35-year-old Tina Ann Abbay from Las Cruces, NM was driving south on FM 769, approaching the stop intersection at US Highway 82. DPS says Abbay had four other passengers in the vehicle. Their ages were 15, 1, 9, and 17.

DPS says a pickup truck hauling a trailer was going east on the highway, approaching FM 769.

Abbay failed to stop at the intersection and proceeded through the intersection, striking the truck.

Abbay and the 15-year-old died at the scene due to the injuries sustained during the crash.

The other 3 passengers were taken to UMC here in Lubock for their injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck was treated for minor injuries
