MENIFEE, CA — A two-vehicle wreck Monday night in Menifee left three people with serious injuries, and a preliminary investigation shows that alcohol and speed were likely crash factors, according to the Menifee Police Department.

The crash involving a Hyundai Accent and Nissan Altima was reported at about 10:31 p.m. near the intersection of Menifee Road and Camino Cristal.

When officers arrived on scene they found a 64-year-old Menifee man in the Hyundai and a 17-year-old Menifee girl in the Nissan. A 23-year-old Sacramento man was ejected from the Nissan.

"All parties involved were found to have major injuries and were transported to a local hospital," according to police.

During the investigation, officers determined the Nissan was heading south on Menifee Road when the driver lost control and went into oncoming traffic, causing a crash with the northbound Hyundai, police said.

It's not clear which of the Nissan occupants was behind the wheel, but police said, "At this time, alcohol and speed are both believed to be factors in the collision."

As of Tuesday morning, the two men were listed in critical condition and the girl was stable, police reported.

Anyone with more information on the crash is asked to contact the Menifee Police Department at 951-723-1565.
