1 Person, 2 Pets Rescued From House Fire In Stratford

Crews "quickly found the source of the fire and aggressively worked to contain the fire to the area of origin," the news release states.

"Rescue crews removed one resident from the structure who was evaluated for smoke inhalation by Stratford EMS and released," officials wrote in the release. "Two pets were removed from the home with assistance from Stratford Animal Control. Station coverage was provided by the Bridgeport and Milford Fire Departments while all on duty units extinguished the fire. Stratford EMS also was on scene for support."

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Stratford Fire Marshals office.

"The Stratford Fire department would like to remind our residents to have working smoke detectors, regularly practice an escape plan for residential homes, and call 911 immediately upon observation of smoke or fire," officials wrote.
