4 Picks For FPL Gameweek 11: Bruno Fernandes, Brentford Or Bournemouth?

A.Wilson23 min ago

It is the last round of Fantasy Premier League games before another international break gives FPL managers two weeks to dwell on their team selections.

Saving two free transfers to use during that international break can be a good option, but there is plenty to tempt managers into changing their teams ahead of Gameweek 11.

Here are four things to consider ahead of the latest round of Premier League fixtures.

Cody Gakpo, or Luis Díaz the striker?

Liverpool winger Luis Díaz is the most transferred out 'midfielder' of Gameweek 11, with 236,960 managers having removed him from their teams at the time of writing.

Cody Gakpo has emerged as a trusted option for Liverpool manager Arne Slot and has started three of the last four Premier League games ahead of Díaz.

Gakpo's position of 'forward' rather than 'midfielder' in FPL, despite playing in the same role as Díaz and Mohamed Salah, still makes him less attractive to FPL managers at this point.

If he continues to score, however, he might be an option, especially as his value has already dropped from 7.5 to 7.1.

In Liverpool's 4-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen this week, Slot used both Diaz and Gakpo in the same lineup, picking the Colombian hat-trick hero to play through the middle in place of Darwin Núñez.

This might be a one-off for that particular opponent and Núñez could likely start again against Aston Villa this weekend, but it's something to look out for in coming weeks.

If Slot starts to use Díaz more regularly as a striker in the Premier League, he might be even more productive than he was on the wing earlier in the season.

Could Bruno Fernandes be back?

Manchester United's star player is regularly one of the most productive players in the league in terms of creating chances.

From set pieces and open play, even when the assists aren't coming, Fernandes's underlying numbers for creativity are always among the best around.

With Erik ten Hag gone there is some uncertainty as to what Manchester United will look like going forward, but when new Portuguese manager Rúben Amorim arrives, his compatriot Fernandes will likely be at the centre of his plans.

One paper, Manchester United have a favourable run of games against Leicester (H), Ipswich (A), and Everton (H).

United will be hoping to collect points and momentum in these games ahead of a difficult trip to Arsenal in gameweek 14.

Fernandes scored his first goal of the season against Chelsea last week, and could be in for a run of scoring in these supposedly easier fixtures, though it's worth bearing in mind that Man United make hard work of all of their games this season.

Brentford, Bournemouth or both?

Two teams among FPL favourites outside of the usual names are Brentford and Bournemouth.

Bryan Mbeumo has been the obvious pick for Brentford this season, and is the third-highest scoring midfielder in the game behind Mohamed Salah and Cole Palmer.

As is often the case with these high-scoring players categorized as midfielders by FPL, it helps that Mbeumo often ends of in more central, forward areas, very similar to Salah in this regard.

Meanwhile, Antoine Semenyo is the highest scoring Bournemouth player and stood out against Manchester City last week with a goal and three bonus points.

But with Brentford and Bournemouth facing each other this week, will the two cancel each other out, or will it be a goal fest for the FPL favourites?

Brentford's home advantage might sway in its favour, but Bournemouth has been one of the most impressive teams in the league this season and come into the game on the back of a victory against Manchester City last week.

Maybe the best of both worlds lies in an attacking full-back such as Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez who made two assists vs City last week.

Continue with Cunha

Last week's suggestion of Matheus Cunha paid off to some extent as the Wolves forward assisted a goal and received one bonus point in a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.

FPL managers who have already added him to their team might get the full benefit this week as Wolves has a home game against the team that has conceded the second-most expected goals in the Premier League this season—Southampton.

Cunha has the fourth-most bonus points among FPL forwards with 10, and could be in line for more as six of Wolves' next seven games have an FPL Fixture Difficulty Rating of just 2 (easy).

The other one is Fulham away, which some might say is also a decent fixture even though FPL rank it at a difficulty of 3 (average).

It seems safe to continue with Cunha.

The FPL deadline for Gameweek 11 is Saturday at 13:30 p.m. GMT.
