144 players, including 22 ex-Tigers, are now MLB free agents

DETROIT - Of the 144 players who just became traditional MLB free agents, zero are Detroit Tigers.

The Tigers are one of three teams who enter the offseason without any veterans departing their roster.

But there are several players who spent time with the Tigers in 2024 and are now reaching free agency with their new teams: catcher Carson Kelly (Rangers); infielder Gio Urshela (Braves); infielder/outfielder Mark Canha (Giants); and right-handed pitcher Jack Flaherty (Dodgers).

Most of the players on the list below became free agents due to the expiration of their contracts or by reaching six years of big-league service time.

In the coming weeks, this group will be joined by many more: Players who decline options; are not offered contracts for 2024; and are waived or released. Plus, there will be scores of minor-league free agents.
