5 questions with Kendal Conrad, a singer-songwriter performing at Grater Park in Ephrata this July

A.Davis13 hr ago

Kendal Conrad wants to be your new favorite musician.

The 33-year-old Montgomery County native has fine tuned her craft for more than a decade, performing in many venues across the United States.

In 2014, Conrad shared the stage with country singer Keith Urban at Musikfest, in Bethlehem, Northampton County. Conrad also competed in 2015's Country Showdown — the largest country music competition in the United States — and has opened for musicians like Maggie Rose, Phil Vassar, Mo Pitney and more.

Conrad will perform at Grater Park in Ephrata at 6 p.m. July 9. Lancaster-based folk-pop group The Wild Hymns will perform, too.

Conrad recently talked with LNP|LancasterOnline via email about her upcoming Ephrata performance, what it was like to perform with Urban and more. Here's what Conrad said, in her own words.

's note: This interview has been lightly edited for clarity.

You've performed a little bit of everywhere, from singing the National Anthem at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia to hotels in West Hollywood, California. What made you want to sing at a community concert in Ephrata?

: Community is everything! I have met my most supportive fans performing at community events, and they have stayed with me for over a decade. When I was asked to perform at Concerts by the Creek, I couldn't say no!

Have you performed in Lancaster County before, or spent time here? Do you have any associated memories?

I celebrated my college graduation at Shady Maple (Smorgasbord), and I'm hoping to perform the National Anthem for the Lancaster Stormers this summer! No specific plans to visit anywhere special, but always open to recommendations.

From the looks of your Kendal's Bites social media platforms, you're quite the foodie! Any Lancaster County restaurant stops planned while you're here?

Yes, checking out restaurants, wineries, etc. has become a sort of hobby, and I am very adventurous when it comes to trying new things. I still regularly post on Kendal's Bites , so please follow me on my foodie adventures! Nothing planned yet, but Luca has been on my list for a long time.

In 2014, you performed on stage with Keith Urban at Musikfest in Bethlehem. How did that happen? What's your favorite memory related to that performance?

Keith and his team were amazing, and that night is one I will never ever forget. My favorite memory was spending the night with my mom, who is my biggest cheerleader and has supported me from day one.

What would you want LNP|LancasterOnline readers to know about you, prior to seeing the concert in Ephrata?

I am a singer-songwriter, so I have a bunch of my own original music on the streaming platforms. Would love it if readers gave me a listen!
