6 shot, 3 dead after shooting, high-speed chase across Central PA counties
Pennsylvania State Police have now released more information about two related shootings that happened across counties Friday morning
The new details were provided during a 1 p.m. press conference where State Police Department Public Information Officer, Lt. Adam Reed, and Dauphin County District Attorney, Fran Chardo, discussed what is known at this time:
Reed confirmed that authorities were called to a shooting at the Sassafras Terrace apartments in Mount Joy, Lancaster County at around 4:15 a.m. and found that four people had been shot, one of whom was killed.
A 22-year-old man named Ricky Shannon of Altoona and his pickup truck were quickly identified by officers and within minutes, Shannon's pickup truck was spotted on the road and a pursuit was started.
It was also confirmed that the people shot in the home were family members of a 19-year-old woman that Shannon had a PFA against.
The woman also had issued a PFA against Shannon days after he first filed his.
PSP Lancaster also joined in the high speed pursuit which carried over into Dauphin County, where Reed stated Shannon had crashed into multiple cars and was also periodically driving on the wrong side of the road.
Reed said that eventually, after about 40 minutes, a pit-maneuver was done by PSP on Rt. 147.

After this, Shannon opened fire on Troopers which hit multiple State Police vehicles and almost hit Troopers, prompting State Police to fire back.
Reed reported that when Troopers approached the car to give aid to Shannon, they found that the 19-year-old woman was in the car with him and had also been shot.
Reed also emphasized that Shannon's truck had tinted windows, making it difficult to see who was inside.
Both Shannon and the 19-year-old passed away from their injuries despite being given immediate care.
DA Chardo confirmed that the investigation is still in its very preliminary stages and that authorities are looking through all body cam and dash cam footage available to them.
At this time, the identities of the woman's family members who were shot have not been released.
It is still unclear how Shannon and the woman were related and why they had PFAs filed against each other.
Reed said that Rt. 147 between Mountain Road and Exit 22: US 22 West/US 322 West will remain closed for some time while they investigate the aftermath of the shootout.
